Supplementary information: Son of Ellen O'Brien (formerly Walshe), of 17, Chapel St., Tralee, Co. Kerry, Ireland, and the late William Walshe.
Born, Tralee, Kerry, Ireland. Occupation on enlistment, Plumber. Served 3 years apprenticeship with Kennedy Brothers, Tralee. Age on enlistment; 26 years 2 months.
Suffered from Pleurisy caused by climate and exposure in Gallipoli, admitted and treated in hospital in Malta and London. Treated for fractured ribs in Heliopolis. Treated for gingivitis, carbuncle and defective teeth in France. Received shell wounds to the buttock and chest in France. Died of these wounds at the 45th Casualty Clearing Station. Buried the same day by Rev J Lowery. Next of kin details; (mother) Mrs O’Brien, 17 Chapel Street, Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland. His mother, Mrs Ellen O’Brien, received a pension of 40 shillings per fortnight from September-1917.
